Today in 1917, the United States Congress ordains the Selective Draft Act, or Selective Service act of 1917 which demands individuals become soldiers to fight World War I.

I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. — Fannie Lou Hamer

1. The Whole Problem (And Solution) In Two Minutes

LarkenRose | Most conflict, violence, and injustice is the result not of individual malice but of people imagining an obligation to obey a perceived authority, usually government. In their daily lives most people accept the non-aggression principle, it’s not OK to rob or attack other people. But they’ve been taught that government has an exception from that rule and that legalized theft and thuggery, taxation, and law enforcement, are moral, legitimate, and necessary for society.... - [More]

2. Barnyard Politics

Strike-The-Root.com | Humans have a strange inclination to build their fundamental political beliefs and institutions on a foundation of lies and fantasies. One would think something so important should have a better connection to reality! Some of these lies and fantasies are: democracy, the republic, representative government, constitutions, government “help,” and even rights.... - [More]

4. All Wars Are Bankers’ Wars

WhatReallyHappened.com | I know many people have a great deal of difficulty comprehending just how many wars are started for no other purpose than to force private central banks onto nations, so let me share a few examples, so that you understand why the US Government is mired in so many wars against so many foreign nations. There is ample precedent for this.... - [More]

5. Faith: Powerful Stuff

Strike-The-Root.com | Faith: what a person believes, regardless of fact, evidence, proof or reason; it’s powerful stuff. It can cause him to surrender his life, and to rob others of theirs, all the while retaining a strong sense of virtue, of doing the right thing.... - [More]

6. Infanticide – A Medical Ethic?

AngryHateMusic | “In spite of the oxymoron in the expression, we propose to call this practice ‘after-birth abortion’, rather than ‘infanticide’, to emphasise that the moral status of the individual killed is comparable with that of a fetus (on which ‘abortions’ in the traditional sense are performed) rather than to that of a child. Therefore, we claim that killing a newborn could be ethically permissible in all the circumstances where abortion would be. Such circumstances include cases where the newborn has the potential to have an (at least) acceptable life, but the well-being of the family is at risk. Accordingly, a second terminological specification is that we call such a practice ‘after-birth abortion’ rather than ‘euthanasia’ because the best interest of the one who dies is not necessarily the primary criterion for the choice, contrary to what happens in the case of euthanasia.” – Journal Of Medical Ethics, 23 February 2012... - [More]

7. The Nurture May Differ, But The Nature Does Not.

ZeroGov.com | When using the Socratic jackhammer against statists, it’s usually not more than a couple blows of the anvil before we arrive at what the state actually is–a group of individuals exercising the use of force against other individuals. Ultimately, this is the core of the state’s power; the use of force to maintain its order. This is a trait shared by all governments, from republics and liberal democracies, to totalitarian dictatorships and oppressive oligarchies. At their cores, that is, at the foundations of these differing political systems, the use of force is the fundamental premise upon which their theories are built. Only the degree of aggression, intrusion, and violence is varied from the total state to the minimal state; they are identical twins spawned from the same egg. The nurture may differ, but the nature does not.... - [More]

8. The State Is Not Invincible Its Just A Bad Idea

aotmr.com | Throughout the course of history people have fought against tyranny and authority of various forms only to be thrown back into subjugation when someone else came along to claim what we call “power”. There have been countless battles to overthrow these established powers, but none of them resulting in freedom for humanity in the long term, because all of these struggles were playing out on the wrong battlefield.... - [More]

10. Dying for a Lie

FreedomsPhoenix.com | Today, to escape the hectic stress of life for a moment, I took a stroll through the cemetery in the town where I grew up. I saw lots of names I knew, but the main thing I noticed was how many American flags were adorning grave sites, and how many gravestones mentioned that the deceased had either died in combat or served in the military. If I were a good, loyal, patriotic American, the sight would have filled me with nationalistic pride, and thankfulness for the soldiers’ sacrifice. But it didn’t. It filled me with sadness. There is no greater love than that shown by someone who lays down his life for his friends. But there is no greater tragedy than someone laying down his life for a lie. And that is exactly what every soldier, of every country, who dies in battle, does.... - [More]
